Is Remo Stars Just A Case Of An Elephant On Top Of A Tree?

Estimated read time 3 min read

Having finished 2nd in the previous season, Remo Stars carried the momentum into the 2024/25 season starting on a high with three wins on the trot. They are early pacesetters of the season. Having suffered the agony of being knocked out by FAR Rabat in the qualifying rounds of the CAF Champions League one would expect this to have negatively affected the players but this has done the opposite, the players are fired up for the fight to claim their maiden NPFL title.

Is this Remo Stars’ Season They Finally Win The Title?

Remo Stars is a fairly young club considering that it was formed in 2004 as FC Dender and later rebranded as Remo Stars in 2010, they then got its first promotion to the NPFL in the 2015/16 season and only bounced back for the 2021/2022 season. They have finished 3rd in the season they got back into the NPFL, and were runners-up in the last 2 seasons. Could this season be the one they finally clinch the title? The team is on fire this season having won their back-to-back away games for the first time in their history when they beat Kano Pillars 0-2 at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina. Remo Stars did good business in the transfer window bringing in the likes of ThankGod Ikeagwu and Ismael Souley joining from Kwara United,  Chiemeka Nwokeji (Sporting Lagos), Alex Oyowah (Rivers United), Faisal Sani (Kano Pillars), Ifeanyi Anaemena (Abia Warriors) and Shuaib Ibrahim (AS Police). It is clear they are going for the title this season. It remains to be seen whether defending champions Enugu Rangers and the perennial title contenders Enyimba will let that happen.

Does Daniel Ogunmodede Have The Experience To Lead Remo Stars to The League Title?

Having helped Remo Stars to gain promotion to the NPFL for the 2021/22 season he has done incredibly well and given the footballing philosophy of his that he calls “Ijaball” which blends influences from elite coaches such as Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola that encompasses tactical discipline, innovative training methods and player development he has yielded impressive results. Apart from his football badges he also possesses qualifications in Physiology and Human Kinetics. It is about time his expertise is rewarded with a league title. Football doesn’t lie it tells its own truth and success in football doesn’t happen overnight, current success is a result of seeds planted years before and this man planted his, it’s time for him to harvest.
